NDT Technician
Position Summary
The NDT Assistant supports certified NDT Technicians in performing non-destructive testing (NDT) services in the field and shop environments. This entry-level role is responsible for preparing work areas, handling equipment, ensuring safety compliance, and learning the fundamentals of NDT methods. It is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and work toward technician certification.
Key Responsibilities
Assist NDT Technicians in conducting inspections such as RT, MT, PT, and UT thickness testing.
Set up and dismantle work areas, barricades, and signage in accordance with safety requirements.
Transport, handle, and prepare NDT equipment and consumables for use.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of job sites, trucks, and darkrooms.
Accurately record basic job information, data, and materials used.
Ensure compliance with all company safety, radiation, and client-specific procedures.
Perform general labor duties including lifting, carrying, rigging, and positioning of parts or test equipment.
Actively participate in training and development to progress toward NDT certification.
Support Technicians in maintaining calibration, storage, and care of inspection tools and equipment.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Completion of 40-Hour Assistant Radiographer Course (must provide certificate).
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Ability to pass DISA background check, drug/alcohol testing, and client-specific requirements (TWIC, site orientations, etc.).
Must be safety-conscious and willing to work in demanding industrial environments.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor/industrial conditions.
Must be able to wear PPE including hard hat, respirator, lead apron, fall protection, etc.
Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.

Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
