NDT Technician

Position Summary

The NDT Technician is responsible for performing non-destructive testing (NDT) methods in accordance with industry codes, client specifications, and company procedures to ensure the quality and integrity of materials, welds, and components. This role requires strong technical skills, safety awareness, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform NDT examinations using methods such as:

    • Radiographic Testing (RT)

    • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)

    • Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)

    • Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT)

  • Prepare equipment and materials required for testing.

  • Interpret, evaluate, and document test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures.

  • Maintain accurate and complete inspection reports and records.

  • Follow radiation safety and company safety protocols at all times.

  • Ensure proper care, calibration, and functionality of NDT equipment.

  • Support and comply with client-specific safety and site requirements.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, and team members regarding job status and results.

  • Assist in training and mentoring helpers/assistants when applicable.

Qualifications

  • Prior NDT experience in industrial, fabrication, or pipeline environments preferred.

  • Certification or qualification in one or more NDT methods (ASNT SNT-TC-1A, CP-189, or company procedure).

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

  • TWIC card, DISA, or other client-required screenings (preferred or ability to obtain).

  • Strong safety mindset and willingness to work in demanding field environments (refineries, plants, pipelines).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs., climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and perform testing in outdoor conditions.

  • Must be able to wear PPE including respirators, lead aprons, fall protection, etc.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, API, AWS).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation.
